Medi 404 page

Project Type

404 page

Problem

My research team informed me that much of the traffic to the 404 page comes from several broken links in various forums across the web.

My job

Create a new 404 page according to Medi’s style guide. Try to get users to download the mobile app. (From the 404 page, mobile users will be redirected to the device-appropriate app store and desktop users to a page with a QR code they can scan with their phones.) Incorporate visual elements and describe them in wireframe.

Medi's brand voice:
Helpful but never pushy
Welcoming to all audiences
Relaxed with a quiet confidence

Power words include:
Calm
Clear
Guidance
Peace

Copy

I chose to use a clear and concise header that reads 'Page not found' to ensure clarity for all users, not just tech-savvy ones, who may not be familiar with the term '404 page. The sub-header focuses on empathizing with the user's place in the journey (ex: frustration) so I used encouraging language to reassure them that we’d help “guide” them to a solution. Using words like ‘guide’ and ‘happy’ are words related to Medi’s style guide. I chose to use the phrase "happy place" because it can relate to the mission behind the meditation app. To further reinforce the idea of guiding the user toward a solution, I included an icon of a lighthouse. This serves as a visual representation of lighting the way toward resolving the issue. I included two CTAs to encourage the user to download our app while also giving them the option to go back home.
